Genelec, that ubiquitious speaker manufacturer from Finland, is embracing Dante with the release of their new 9402A System Management Device for Audio-over-IP networking. This expansion of their UNIO monitoring ecosystem brings Dante and AES67 compatibility to Genelec's range of Smart Active Monitors and Subwoofers, joining the existing 9401A (which already supports Ravenna, ST2110 and AES67). Compatible with everything from stereo to 9.1.6, it's a meaningful step toward more flexible, scalable, future-proof monitoring.

Bridging AES/EBU and AoIP The 9402A supports up to 16 channels of digital audio via DB25, with dedicated AES/EBU XLR outputs for subwoofer integration and auxiliary stereo monitoring — letting users move seamlessly between loudspeakers and headphones without breaking workflow. High-resolution audio is supported up to 192 kHz / 32-bit, fully in the digital domain, so nothing is lost in conversion.
Tight GLM integration Through Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM), the 9402A enables full system calibration, subwoofer alignment, and bass management. Subwoofers can be chained to boost low-frequency SPL, and channel count scales easily with additional 9402A units — opening the door to 22.2 and other high-channel-count immersive formats.
Built for mission-critical environments Gigabit Ethernet, low-latency operation, redundant network connectivity, and modern streaming control integration give the 9402A the reliability demanding facilities need. Dante Media Encryption (AES 256-bit) secures audio transport, with support for centrally managed security policies. Low-latency OSI Layer 3 routing allows audio to move across subnets, buildings, or wide-area networks.
Engineered to last Built to Genelec's exacting environmental standards at its Iisalmi, Finland factory, the 9402A is a compact 1U rack-mount unit. Genelec's Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology minimises idle power consumption, while single-cable network connectivity simplifies facility management, reduces cabling, and supports broader sustainability goals.
